PROCESS
Employing the services of a designer provides you with the opportunity to make your outdoor living space Meet Your Needs .
These are the recognised stages of the process to help you achieve the full potential of your garden
1) Arrange a visit to discuss your ideas and wishes and to view a portfolio of designs and plans. An accurate quotation can be given for the proposed design work but you are under no obligation to proceed. A charge is made to cover my time and traveling of £50.00 which is waived if commissioned to produce any design work over £350.00
2) Before I visit, think of your requirements (including dislikes) for example how much gardening you want to be involved in, your budget, features, and colours.
3) Although every garden design is unique, the process goes through specific stages of work. The first, to survey the site taking measurements, levels, photographs and requirements. (For larger sites the appointment of an independent professional surveyor may be required).
4) A master plan is drawn in detail, to scale. indicating all hard landscaping, planting areas, dimensions and material information. It may be presented in colour if required, possibly including axonometric drawings, sections and elevations.
5) A planting plan can be provided giving the names, positions and quantities. An alternative to this is a planting service which can usually be more cost effective as I have access to nurseries.
6) Should you decide to use a contractor, then any further drawings they will need can be produced along with specifications to enable you to get competitive quotes. (I can provide estimates as a guide to the overall development cost.) Remember you can always build this dream yourself, all at once or step by step.
7) I can oversee the management of the project should you require, and fees are quoted and agreed for this before commencement, based on current hourly rates.
A designer can provide new eyes and inspiration on the project identifying good and bad points which may not be obvious to you. It can save you money in the long term by not making expensive alterations and additions over a period of time which distorts the overall theme.
